According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, in recent days, Abolfazl Eskandariyan, 23, and Saman Eskandariyan, 19, two Kurmanji Kurdish citizens from Bojnourd who are cousins, were sentenced to imprisonment, flogging, and fines following proceedings in two judicial cases.
According to received information, a branch of the Bojnourd Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Izanlo, sentenced each of these two citizens to two years and one day of imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the system” and “assembly and collusion against national security.”
Additionally, in a separate case, a branch of the Criminal Court of Bojnourd sentenced each of them to 74 lashes and a fine of 22 million tomans on charges of “disrupting public order and peace” and “resisting officers on duty.” These sentences were verbally communicated to them in late June of this year.
The two citizens were arrested on January 4, 2026, during a raid on their home by security forces without a judicial warrant. After being transferred to an undisclosed location, they spent the first four days of their detention in incommunicado holding before being transferred to Bojnourd Prison.
According to published reports, Abolfazl Eskandariyan and Saman Eskandariyan were subjected to physical torture during their detention. Furthermore, they were denied access to a lawyer and family visits throughout their entire period of detention.
The two citizens were eventually released temporarily on bail on February 3, 2026, after approximately one month in detention, pending the completion of judicial proceedings.
