Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court has sentenced two sisters arrested during the 2026 nationwide protests to a total of 16 years in prison, the Hana Human Rights Organization reports.
Tara Davoodi, a former surveying engineering student at the University of Isfahan, and her sister Kimia Davoodi, a former law student at Razi University in Kermanshah, were arrested in Tehran on January 14, 2026. Both are currently held in the women’s ward of Evin Prison.
According to the ruling handed down by Judge Abolghasem Salavati, Kimia Davoodi was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of “communicating with hostile groups and networks” and “assembly and collusion against national security.”
Tara Davoodi received a six-year sentence on parallel charges of “assembly and collusion against national security” and “propaganda against the state.”
