Alan Hekmatirad English Language Teacher Arbitrarily Detained by Security Forces in Mahabad

On April 7, 2026, Alan Hekmatirad, an English language teacher from Mahabad, was arrested by security forces on a street in the city without the presentation of any judicial warrant and was subsequently transferred to Naqadeh Prison.

It is reported that following Mr. Hekmatirad’s transfer to prison, security forces raided his family home, seizing and confiscating personal belongings including his laptop, hard drives, and books.

This situation raises serious concerns regarding the adherence to principles of due process, the right to access legal counsel, and the family’s right to be informed of his status.
The Hana Human Rights Organization, while emphasizing the necessity of transparency in judicial proceedings, calls for an immediate official explanation regarding this citizen’s status, the guarantee of his legal rights, and an end to the practice of arbitrary detentions.
