Report by the Hana Human Rights Organization on a new wave of arrests of citizens in Iran

The Hana Human Rights Organization expresses concern over the beginning of a new wave of arrests of citizens in Iran. According to reports published by media outlets affiliated with government institutions, at least 33 citizens have been arrested across different provinces of the country over the past two days on charges including cooperation with Israel, gathering information, and acting against national security.

Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported these arrests in several separate reports, without disclosing the identities of those detained, the judicial process of their cases, or their place of detention.

According to these reports, in West Azerbaijan Province, in the city of Orumiyeh, 20 individuals were arrested on charges of cooperating with Israel and sending information about military, police, and security locations.

In Lorestan Province, three citizens were arrested on charges described as spreading rumors, setting fire to mourning symbols, and sending images of the war to foreign media outlets.

In Razavi Khorasan Province, ten individuals were also arrested on accusations of gathering information and identifying the locations of sensitive sites and economic infrastructure.

The Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that concealing the identities of detainees, denying them access to independent legal counsel, and bringing serious security charges without presenting public evidence constitute serious violations of fair trial principles and fundamental human rights.

Hana further notes that in times of crisis, the instrumental use of security accusations against citizens can lead to broader violations of civil rights and increased pressure on society. The organization calls on international bodies to respond to the situation of these individuals and urges the authorities of the Islamic Republic to immediately clarify their fate, place of detention, and guarantee their physical and psychological well-being.
