The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that a Kurdish citizen identified as Abbas Jafari, 36 years old, from the village of Sartang in Badreh County, illam Province, died under torture following his arrest by security agencies.
According to received reports, Mr. Jafari was arrested on January 9, 2026, while participating in protests in Tehran by forces of the Islamic Republic.
After his initial arrest, he was subjected to several days of interrogation and severe physical torture before being transferred to Kahrizak Prison.
Shortly after his detention, the relevant authorities contacted his family to inform them of his death. According to informed sources and eyewitnesses, his lifeless body was handed over to his family with clear signs of bruising and strangulation marks on his neck.
