According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Shiva Zarei, a journalist from Qasr-e Shirin residing in Buin Zahra, has been fined 50 million tomans by Branch Three of the Qazvin Revolutionary Court.
The verdict, issued on a charge of “propaganda against the state” over her resharing of an Instagram story, was communicated to her in recent days. Before the ruling came down, all of her bank accounts were frozen without any prior notice, and her mobile phone had been confiscated since January 2026, without a warrant or any legal paperwork, and was not returned to her for several months.
Her case was heard on June 9, 2026, at Branch Three of the Qazvin Revolutionary Court. She had earlier received a summons to appear on May 3, 2026, which stated explicitly that her absence would not prevent the court from reaching its legal decisions.
