Orumieh; Soada Khadirzadeh was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison

Hana; In recent days, a female citizen with the identity of “Soada Khadirzadeh” from Piranshahr, was sentenced to 12 years and 6 months in prison by Branch Three of the Criminal Court based in Mahabad on charges of “being an aid in the murder” of Kheder Pirotti, a member of the Revolutionary Guards, and “helping to escape one of the accused.”

The aforementioned court session was held online on Wednesday, August 24, and the verdict was announced to the family of this political prisoner today.

It should be noted that in the coming days, Soada Khadirzadeh's court session will be held at the Mahabad Revolutionary Court on the charge of acting against national security through "membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties of the Iranian government".

On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Soada Khadirzadeh was returned to the women's ward of Urmia Prison without completing the treatment period after having a cesarean section and giving birth to her baby. The prison officers tied her hands and feet to the bed when she was admitted to the hospital, which led to the protest of the medical staff of the hospital.

In April of this year, she went on a hunger strike for 11 days to protest the continuation of her undecided situation in Urmia prison. She had ended her hunger strike due to the favorable promise of the prison officials to be temporarily released on bail, but until now, for unknown reasons, the Mahabad court has refused to release her temporarily.

This citizen also suffered from kidney, heart and disc diseases during pregnancy and was deprived of specialized medical care during this period.

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, she was arrested by the security forces in the city of Piranshahr and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia for interrogation.

Amnesty International had previously published a statement that "Soada Khadirzadeh" has never been allowed access to a lawyer since her arrest. Her arrest is contrary to fair trial criteria and is considered arbitrary according to international law because she was detained for a long time without knowing the reasons for her arrest and was denied access to a lawyer.
