According to information obtained by the Hana Human Rights Organization, the sentence of three years, six months, and one day of discretionary imprisonment for Naser Hemmati, a psychiatrist, author, and civil activist from Abdanan in Ilam Province, has been finalized and deemed enforceable. Based on received reports, Judge Rajab Mohammadi was in charge of presiding over this case.
This conviction pertains to a case in which Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Ilam issued a verdict in July 2025 [Tir 1404]. In this case, Naser Hemmati was sentenced to three years, six months, and one day of imprisonment on the charge of “attempting to consolidate and endorse the occupying regime of Quds,” 15 months and one day of imprisonment for “insulting the Supreme Leader,” and six months of imprisonment in connection with an accusation related to a Telegram channel. Under Iranian law, the maximum sentence of three years, six months, and one day of imprisonment was designated as the enforceable penalty among these convictions.
Naser Hemmati had previously been arrested in January 2020 [Dey 1398] and was sentenced in 2021 [1400] by the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan to prison on charges of “insulting the Supreme Leader” and “propaganda against the regime.” He was transferred to Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan in August of that year to serve his sentence, and in October 2021 [Mehr 1400], he received an additional one-year prison sentence in a separate case. Furthermore, in December 2024 [Azar 1403], he was arrested after being summoned to the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Abdanan and was later released on bail.
