According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, early this morning, Saturday, June 6, 2026, forces from the Ministry of Intelligence conducted simultaneous raids on the family homes of Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani in the city of Kamyaran, arresting the two citizens and transferring them to an undisclosed location.
An informed source stated that the intelligence agents executed the arrests without presenting a judicial warrant and forcefully broke down the doors to the residences. As of this writing, no information is available regarding the reasons for their arrest, their current whereabouts, the agency overseeing their case, or their legal status.
Kazhal Rahmani, a civil activist and former nurse at Sina Hospital in Kamyaran, has been repeatedly summoned and interrogated by security agencies in Kamyaran and Sanandaj in recent years. She was also dismissed from her workplace in the autumn of 2019 following pressure from security institutions.
Danial Rahmani, a computer engineering student at the Islamic Azad University of Sanandaj, has similarly faced multiple summonses and interrogations by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization in Kamyaran over the past few years.
Kazhal and Danial Rahmani belong to a justice-seeking family in Kurdistan. Their brother, Jamal Rahmani, a member of the leadership council of the Free and Democratic Society of East Kurdistan (KODAR), was killed by IRGC forces in 2018. Years after his death, the Rahmani family remains uninformed about the fate of his remains or his burial site. Despite repeated inquiries to security and judicial authorities in Kamyaran and Sanandaj over the years to determine his resting place, the family has yet to receive a response.
Additionally, another member of the family, Rebin Rahmani, is a former political prisoner and a board member of the Kurdistan Human Rights Network.
The simultaneous detention of these two family members occurs against a backdrop of continuous security pressure and summonses directed at the family over the years, stemming from their civil and human rights activities and their persistent efforts to uncover Jamal Rahmani’s fate.
The Hana Human Rights Organization expresses deep concern over the arrest of Kazhal and Danial Rahmani and the ongoing lack of information regarding their condition. The organization emphasizes that holding detainees incommunicado, while keeping their families and legal counsel uninformed about their whereabouts and case status, facilitates the violation of fundamental rights and contradicts the principles of a fair trial. Hana demands immediate clarification of the fate and location of these two citizens, guaranteed access to legal representation and their family, full observance of their legal rights, and the prevention of any rights violations during their detention.
