Issa Faizi Arrested After Inquiring About the Whereabouts of His Wife and Brother-in-Law in Kamyaran

According to reports received by HANA, Issa Faizi, a citizen from Kamyaran, environmental activist, and former political prisoner, has been arrested by security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to an informed source, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Issa Faizi went to the Kamyaran Intelligence Office to inquire about the situation of his wife, Kazhal Rahmani, and her brother, Danial Rahmani, who had been arrested the day before by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. He was subsequently arrested by security agents at the same location.

According to the report, Intelligence Office agents transferred him to their building under the pretext of wanting to ask him a few questions, and detained him without presenting any judicial warrant.

It is reported that at the time of Kazhal Rahmani’s arrest, security forces had also seized Issa Faizi’s mobile phone. Unaware of the whereabouts or condition of his wife and brother-in-law, he had gone to that same office seeking information about them.

Issa Faizi has a prior history of detention. This environmental activist and member of the Kurdistan branch of the National Unity Party was previously arrested by security forces in Kamyaran on January 5, 2019. After more than five months in detention, he was temporarily released from the city’s prison upon payment of a one billion toman bail.

Kazhal Rahmani and Danial Rahmani are also members of a justice-seeking family from Kurdistan. Their brother, Jamal Rahmani, a member of the Leadership Council of the Free and Democratic Society of Eastern Kurdistan (KODAR), was killed in 2018 after being shot by Revolutionary Guards forces. Over the years, the Rahmani family has repeatedly approached security and judicial authorities to learn about his fate and burial place, but has yet to receive any response.

With the arrest of Issa Faizi, the number of detained members of this family has risen to three. At the time of this report, no information is available regarding the reasons for the arrests, the place of detention, or the condition of any of the three individuals.
