According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, in recent days, a group of civil activists in Bukan have been summoned and pressured by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Hana sources report that security forces, in addition to summoning these individuals, have warned them against holding any Nowruz celebrations, wearing Kurdish clothing, or carrying the Jamana (a traditional Kurdish shawl). They have also been threatened with arrest and legal consequences if they participate in any Nowruz-related events.
The summoning and threats against civil activists constitute a clear violation of freedom of expression, the right to peaceful assembly, and the right to preserve the cultural identity of the Kurdish people. Nowruz, as a national celebration and a cultural tradition of the Kurdish people, is an inseparable part of their heritage, and any attempt to prevent its observance is an act of suppressing fundamental human rights.
