After five years in prison, Houshmand Alipour was released

Based on the reports received; on, Saturday “January 27, 2024”, Houshmand Alipour, a Kurdish political prisoner from Sardasht, was released from Sanandaj prison after 5 years of imprisonment.

Houshmand Alipour was arrested by the security forces on August 03, 2018, along with another citizen with the identity of "Mohammed Ustad Qadir from Saqqez" and then transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center and finally transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison in December of the same year.

The court session of these two political prisoners was held on October 23, 2019,  by the first branch of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court headed by Judge "Saeidi" and Houshmand Alipour was sentenced to death on the charge of "betrayal""Baghi" through membership in one of the "Kurdish parties of the opposition of the Iranian government". Also, Mohammad Ostad Qadir was sentenced to 5 years in prison and the sentence issued on December 29, 2019, was officially communicated to these two political prisoners in prison.

After the protest in September 2020, this sentence was overturned by the Supreme Court and referred to the 2nd branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court. The court session of this political prisoner was held on the September 2020 in the 2nd Branch of Sanandaj Revolutionary Court on the charge of "betrayal" through membership in the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) and he was sentenced to 8 years in prison.
