According to information received by the HANA Human Rights Organization, a woman and her three children were shot dead by the husband and father of the family in the Ba’athat residential complex in Dehloran County, Ilam Province. After killing his family members, the perpetrator died by suicide by shooting himself.
According to information obtained by HANA, the perpetrator of this family killing was Mohammad Mohammadi, a 57-year-old man. Two of the victims were his nine-year-old twin sons, while the third was his 13-year-old child from his first marriage. The motive behind the killings and the circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear.
This crime comes amid a series of reports in recent days concerning the killings of women and lethal violence against family members in various parts of Iran. The recurrence of such crimes, particularly those targeting women and children, once again highlights the lack of adequate legal protection and effective mechanisms for preventing domestic violence.
Killings within the family must not be treated merely as private incidents. Protecting women and children from violence is a fundamental responsibility of legal authorities and support institutions.
