Shahriyar Adeli, a 27-year-old from Sardasht County, was arrested on 22 November 2022 during the nationwide protests over the state killing of Zhina Amini, on the accusation of participating in the demonstrations, and was transferred to the Sardasht Intelligence Detention Center. He was released on bail on 3 December 2022, but was taken to the hospital following severe torture. On 8 December 2022, he died due to the injuries he had sustained.
