Reza Shahparnia, born in 1999 in Kermanshah, was killed at the age of 23 on September 20, 2022, during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Women, Life, Freedom) movement by security forces.
On the evening of September 20, during the protests over the state-sanctioned murder of Zhina (Mahsa) Amini, he was shot at close range with a shotgun on 2nd Si Metri Street, 22 Bahman neighborhood of Kermanshah. His body was struck by over a hundred pellets, leaving wounds on various parts of his body, including his chest, eyes, and teeth.
According to the death certificate and burial permit issued by Kermanshah Forensic Medicine, the cause of death was listed as “blunt force trauma, hemorrhagic shock, injury to the chest, abdomen, heart, lungs, and liver” due to the impact of a projectile.
His body was buried on September 22 in Baghe Ferdows Cemetery in Kermanshah, with significant participation from the local community.
