Mehran Rahmani, a 22-year-old from Mahabad, was critically wounded on 17 November 2022 during the nationwide protests following the state killing of Zhina Amini. He was shot in the abdomen with live ammunition in the Poshtep Bari Shilanan area of Mahabad. He was transferred to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Mahabad, where he immediately underwent surgery.
Due to a severe drop in his blood platelets, Mehran was later moved to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Orumiyeh. However, because of the severity of his injuries and respiratory complications, he passed away on 18 November 2022.
His funeral and burial took place on Saturday, 19 November 2022, with a large public turnout.
