Dastan Rasoul

Dastan Rasoul, a Kurdish citizen from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, was killed on October 27, 2022, after being shot in the neck with a burst of automatic gunfire by the suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was on his way to attend the funeral of his friend, Motaleb Saeedpiro—one of the victims of the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi revolutionary uprising—in the city of Baneh.

Dastan Rasoul was targeted by government forces while traveling toward the border village of Choman to participate in the burial ceremony of Motaleb Saeedpiro.

It is worth noting that Dastan Rasoul’s family filed a lawsuit against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in a court in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. They were informed that their complaint would be pursued through the Iranian embassy; however, no action has been taken and the family has not received any response so far.

Dastan Rasoul, the son of Rasoul Mohammad and Gohar Swareh, was born in 1991. He was married and the father of a young son.
