A Kurdish Citizen from Mahabad Temporarily Released on Heavy Bail After 81 Days in Detention

HANA — On Monday, June 8, 2026, a Kurdish citizen identified as Vahab Hosseinzadeh, from Mahabad, was temporarily released from Mahabad Prison after 81 days in detention, following the payment of a ten billion toman bail.

According to information received by HANA Human Rights Organization, Mr. Hosseinzadeh had been transferred to Mahabad Prison from one of the security detention centers after the completion of his interrogation. Throughout his detention, he was denied access to a lawyer of his choosing and was not permitted to receive visits from his family.

Vahab Hosseinzadeh was arrested by security forces in Mahabad in the early hours of Friday, March 20, 2025, without a judicial warrant, and transferred to an undisclosed location.
