Soran Feyzi-Zadeh died after being arrested and tortured by security forces in Bijar

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Soran Feyzi-Zadeh, a 40-year-old Kurdish citizen from Saqqez County and a resident of Bijar, was arrested by security forces on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, during the popular protests in Bijar, and died under torture in one of the city’s detention centers.

According to information received, security institutions informed his family by phone on Friday, January 9, 2026, of his death. The report indicates that, due to the severity of injuries resulting from beatings, his body was difficult to identify.

According to this report, Soran Feyzi-Zadeh was married, and despite repeated follow-ups by his wife, security authorities provided no information to the family throughout the period of his detention.

It should be noted that, after the family was forced to pay a sum of money, his body was buried under strict security measures and without permission to hold any funeral ceremony at Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez.
