Mohammad Salehi a Kurdish Sunni cleric has been sentenced to five years of Ta’zir imprisonment

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that in recent days, Mohammad Salehi, a Kurdish Sunni cleric and the imam of the mosque in the village of Kaltageh, a suburb of Bukan, has been sentenced to five years of Ta’zir imprisonment by Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Orumiyeh on charges of “membership in groups opposed to the regime” (allegedly linked to the group known as Ansar al-Sunnah).

According to received reports, Mohammad Salehi was arrested on March 18, 2025 by forces of the Ministry of Intelligence in the village of Kaltageh and transferred to the Intelligence Department detention center in Orumiyeh. After two months, he was moved from the Intelligence detention facility in Orumiyeh to the central prison of the city.

It should be noted that the court session addressing the charges against this Kurdish cleric was held in early Dey of the current year at Branch 2 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Orumiyeh, following approximately nine months of legal limbo. The verdict was communicated to him in recent days at Orumiyeh Central Prison.
