The Norwegian Embassy in Tehran has confirmed that it is aware of the case of Shahin Mahmoudi a Norwegian-Iranian dual national

The Consular Section of the Norwegian Embassy, in response to an email from Hana regarding the status of Shahin Mahmoudi and consular access to this dual national, stated:
“The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware of this ‘case,’ and we are following it within the framework of consular assistance mechanisms.”

The Consular Section further emphasized that, due to its commitment to confidentiality, it is unable to provide additional information regarding this case.

According to information received by Hana, Ms. Shahin Mahmoudi was summoned by phone to the Intelligence Office in Saqqez on Sunday, 14 December. She reported to the office around noon the same day and was arrested. Security forces, without presenting any legal documentation or providing an explanation, subsequently transferred her to the detention facility of the Intelligence Office in Sanandaj.

Since Ms. Mahmoudi’s arrest, no information has been provided regarding the charge or charges against her, nor about her legal status or physical condition.

Shahin Mahmoudi, born in 1980 in Saqqez, currently holds dual Norwegian-Iranian citizenship.

The Hana Human Rights Organization has expressed deep concern over the unclear legal status of Shahin Mahmoudi and considers her legal situation to amount to enforced disappearance until the security and judicial authorities officially acknowledge responsibility for her arrest, disclose her place of detention, and clarify the charges against her.

Hana also calls for consular access by Norwegian consular authorities in accordance with the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, which the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is obligated to uphold.
