According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Monday, September 29, 2025, civil activist Qaneh Khateri, from Sanandaj, was released from Sanandaj Central Prison after serving 85 days in detention.
Mr. Khateri had previously turned himself in to Sanandaj Central Prison on Monday, July 7, 2025, to serve the sentence issued by the judiciary. He had been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mostafa Azizi, to eight months of Ta’zir imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state” and for organizing the funeral ceremony of “Daye Frasat.”
This civil activist had first been arrested on Thursday, February 6, 2025, by security forces without a judicial warrant and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison. He was eventually released temporarily on February 20, 2025, after posting bail of 5 billion rials (500 million tomans).
Furthermore, Mr. Khateri had previously been summoned to the Sanandaj Intelligence Office on January 16, 2025, where he was interrogated for several hours before being released.
It should be noted that this Kurdish civil activist had also been summoned and arrested during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests.
