According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on the evening of Wednesday, September 24, 2025, a Kurdish kolbar identified as Qasem Azizi, from Baneh, was shot dead by border guards of the Islamic Republic at the Sorkeiw border area of the city.
Based on the information obtained, Azizi was carrying goods when border guards opened fire on him with Kalashnikov rifles. A bullet struck his left shoulder, causing his death.
Qasem Azizi, 47, was married and the father of two children.
Sources told Hana that his body was transferred to the morgue of Salah-e din Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh but has not yet been handed over to his family.
