Hana: On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Hamid Chapati, a Kurdish civil activist from Orumiyeh, was transferred to the city’s central prison to serve his sentence after being summoned to the Enforcement of Judgments Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office.
According to this report, he had previously been sentenced by Branch 23 of the West Azerbaijan Court of Appeal to six months of imprisonment, and this ruling was delivered to him on August 19, 2025.
Based on the same report, Behzad Sarikhanlou, Deputy Prosecutor of Orumiyeh, had appealed against his initial sentence, which resulted in the Court of Appeal increasing his punishment. Earlier, in February 2025, Hamid Chapati had been sentenced by Branch 2 of the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Shahini, to three months in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the state.”
It is noteworthy that on October 16, 2024, he was arrested after being summoned by Orumiyeh’s Security Police for his activities on social media, and was released a few hours later on bail pending trial.
