Summoning and Court Session for Kamran Sakhtemangar and Several Union Activists Held in Sanandaj

According to received reports, on Monday, June 9, 2025, Kamran Sakhtemangar, a civil activist from Sanandaj, was tried at Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj on the charge of “propaganda against the regime,” following a previous summons.

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Mr. Sakhtemangar appeared at the court at 9:30 a.m., and his trial began shortly thereafter. The charge against him was based on posts made on his personal social media accounts, including the use of the hashtag #Against_Executions in protest of capital punishment.

In a post on his personal page, Kamran Sakhtemangar emphasized the right to freedom of expression as a fundamental civil and political right and stated that he explicitly defended his stance in court. He presented social, political, and legal arguments opposing the death penalty.

The court session concluded at 11:30 a.m. According to Mr. Sakhtemangar, the final verdict is expected to be issued and announced next week.

Meanwhile, according to information obtained by Hana sources, simultaneously with Kamran Sakhtemangar’s court session, at least 10 teachers and activists from the teachers’ union movement were also tried at Branch 2 of the Criminal Court in Sanandaj on charges of “disturbing public order.”

The names of these teachers are as follows:
Mohammadreza Moradi, Mokhtar Asadi, Seyed Ghiyas Nemati, Reza Tahmasebi, Majid Karimi, Salah Hajimirzaei, Shahriar Naderi, Aram Ebrahimi, Sadegh Kanani, Behzad Ghavami.
