Report on the arrest and transfer of Ismail Yousefi a Kurdish language teacher to the Orumiyeh Intelligence Detention Center

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization:
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Esmail (Samko) Yousefi — a Kurdish language teacher, environmental activist, and resident of Bukan — informed his family through a brief phone call that he is being held at the detention center of the Orumiyeh Intelligence Department.

According to Hana’s sources, the phone call lasted only 30 seconds and marked Mr. Yousefi’s first contact with his family since his arrest.

Esmail Yousefi is married and the father of one child.

In the early morning of Monday, May 26, 2025, security forces raided his home without presenting any judicial warrant, violently assaulted him and his wife, confiscated their mobile phones, and arrested Mr. Yousefi.

In recent years, he has been actively involved in Kurdish language education and environmental protection in the Bukan region.

It is important to note that, as of the time of this report, no clear information has been provided regarding the reasons for his arrest or the charges brought against him.
