Hana: Annual report on the execution of Kurdish citizens, on the occasion of October 10, the International Day against Death Penalty.

October 10th is the day that, with the efforts of dozens of human rights organizations within the framework of the “Global Coalition Against the Death Penalty”, this day was designated as the International Day Against the Death Penalty for the first time in 2003. In continuation of these efforts, in 2007, the European Union officially recognized October 10th as the International Day against the Death Penalty.

Now, on the 20th anniversary of the campaign against the death penalty, Hana Human Rights Organization publishes its statistical report on the execution of Kurdish citizens in the past year, from October 9, 2022, to October 9, 2023.
  Based on the statistics registered in the statistics center of Hana Human Rights Organization, in the past year, from October 9, 2022, to October 9, 2023, at least 88 Kurdish prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons.
Based on Hana's statistics, out of a total of 88 executions, 42 were executed for murder, 41 for drug-related crimes, 3 for political crime (Moharbah) and 2 for armed robbery, and one of the executed was a woman. 
According to the report published by Hrana Human Rights Organization, 659 people were executed in Iran in the past year, 88 of them were Kurdish citizens, which constitute 13.35% of the executions in Iran.
Based on the statistics recorded in the Hana Statistics Center, in 2023 the number of executions in Kurdistan has increased by 36% compared to the previous year.
It should be remembered that Iran is at the top of the countries where the death penalty is carried out in relation to its population.
