According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization: Today, Friday, September 5, 2025, Rebin Gorani, an 18-year-old from the village of Sawa in Marivan and an environmental volunteer, lost his life due to severe injuries and respiratory problems caused by the smoke from a forest fire in the Henjiran area.
Sources told Hana that after being injured while trying to contain the fire, this young man was first taken to Marivan Hospital and later, due to the deterioration of his condition, transferred to Tohid Hospital in Sanandaj. However, despite the efforts of doctors in the ICU, he passed away.
It should be noted that in recent years, recurring forest fires in Kurdistan—many of which have been deliberate—have not only caused significant environmental damage but have also repeatedly led to the injury and death of environmental activists and volunteer citizens.
