According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, a Kurdish Kormanj citizen identified as Anis Geryvani from Esfarayen County was killed during popular protests in the city as a result of direct gunfire by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to reports received, his body was buried in the village of Chahar Borj in Esfarayen County.
