January Protests / Ali Asghar Khodadadi an 18-year-old Kurdish youth was killed after being shot by security forces in Esfarayen

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization: on Thursday, January 8, 2026, an 18-year-old youth identified as Ali Asghar Khodadad, a Kurmanji Kurdish citizen from Esfarayen and a first-semester architecture student, was killed during public protests in Esfarayen after being directly shot twice with live ammunition in the chest by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to received reports, after Ali Asghar Khodadad was wounded, people present at the scene transferred him to the hospital, but he died due to the severity of his injuries.

It should be noted that the body of this 18-year-old youth was laid to rest on January 12, 2026, at the “Koushki” cemetery in Esfarayen.
