According to reports from Hana Human Rights Organization: Isa Ebrahimzadeh, a political prisoner who had been granted leave due to the death of his child, Ariz, was returned to Naqadeh Prison on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
Ariz Ebrahimzadeh lost his life while his father, Isa, was denied permission to be by his side in his final moments, despite continuous pleas from the family. Even after Ariz’s death, Mr. Ebrahimzadeh was only granted a five-day leave, which was initially met with opposition and obstruction by security agencies and the Revolutionary Court.
Isa Ebrahimzadeh, approximately 40 years old, is from the village of Dashams, near Oshnavieh. He is married and the father of two children. Previously, on July 19, 2024, he had requested an extension of his leave due to his son Ariz’s heart condition, but prison authorities rejected his request, leading him to attempt suicide by taking pills.
This Kurdish political prisoner and labor activist was arrested on December 21, 2022, during the Jina (Mahsa Amini) revolutionary movement by security forces. He was released from Oshnavieh Prison on January 12, 2023, after posting a 500-million-toman bail until the completion of his trial.
On February 22, 2023, the Oshnavieh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mehdi Rezaei, sentenced him to five years in prison on charges of participating in protests, propaganda against the regime, and collaborating with a Kurdish opposition party. Out of this sentence, three years were enforceable.
On March 6, 2023, Isa Ebrahimzadeh was re-arrested at his home by security forces and subsequently transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison to serve his sentence.
