According to received reports, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Edris Menbari, a civil activist and board member of the Nozhin Cultural and Social Association in Sanandaj, presented himself to Sanandaj Central Prison to serve a one-year ta’zir imprisonment.
Mr. Menbari was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison accompanied by his family and a group of Nozhin Association members.
According to Hana’s sources, Edris Menbari had been summoned on November 4, 2025 by the Sanandaj Court Enforcement Office to begin serving his sentence.
This Kurdish civil activist had previously been sentenced in November 2023 by the First Branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj to 10 years of ta’zir imprisonment on charges of “forming groups and factions with the intent to disrupt national security.”
In October 2023, he was sentenced by Branch 106 of the Sanandaj Criminal Court Two to one year of ta’zir imprisonment in exile at Dizelabad Prison in Kermanshah and flogging as a form of ta’zir punishment (40 lashes) for “disturbing public order.”
Edris Menbari had previously been arrested on December 18, 2022 by the Ministry of Intelligence forces in Sanandaj and was temporarily released on January 29, 2023, after 43 days in detention, upon posting a bail of one billion tomans.
