According to information and images received by Hana Human Rights Organization, around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, an armed clash broke out between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces and an armed group in the “Rashaqalat” area near the “Galougah” checkpoint in the city of Baneh.
Hana’s investigations indicate that the clash occurred near the Sartazan outpost tower of the Nanour border station in Baneh County. Both sides reportedly used semi-heavy weapons against each other’s positions. Local witnesses stated that the exchange of fire lasted for approximately two hours.
Preliminary information confirms that one IRGC member was killed and another severely wounded. The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as Sina Satarvand.
As of the time of this report, no group or party has claimed responsibility for the armed engagement. However, some sources suggest that one of the involved parties may have been the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).
It is noteworthy that this incident took place just two days after a member of PJAK’s military wing, Omid Hosseini, also known as “Semko Kobani” and a native of Kamyran, was killed in a drone strike carried out by IRGC forces near the Penjwen border area in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
