According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Saman Ghaderi, a Kurdish resident of Orumiyeh aged thirty seven, has been held in continuous detention since March 2026. He was apprehended in Tehran by operatives of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Intelligence Organization and subsequently transferred to the Greater Tehran Penitentiary following the completion of his interrogation process.
The legal proceedings against Saman Ghaderi were initiated in connection with the widespread protests of January 2026. Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, conducted the judicial review of the charges brought against him.
In accordance with the verdict issued by this judicial branch and formally communicated to him on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, he has been sentenced to eleven years in prison on charges of acting against national security and an additional three years for insulting religious sanctities. These convictions result in a cumulative penalty of fourteen years of imprisonment.
Saman Ghaderi has filed a formal objection to the issued ruling and requested an appellate review of his case. As of the publication of this report, the outcome of his appeal remains undetermined and he continues to be incarcerated at the Greater Tehran Penitentiary.
