HANA Report on the Killing of Six Peshmerga of Iranian Kurdish Parties in Iranian Drone and Missile Attacks

HANA Human Rights Organization, based on documented information, field research, and corroborated sources, reports that since 28 February 2026, the Islamic Republic of Iran and affiliated forces have carried out at least 164 missile and drone attacks against the headquarters and camps of Iranian Kurdish political parties in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. These attacks have killed at least six Peshmerga members.

The victims identified by HANA are: Jalal Rashid (Kavani), member of the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK); Esmail Rahimi (Ako), member of Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan; Omid Veysi (Omid Ravansar), member of Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan; Iqbal Salehpour, member of the Khabat Organization of Iranian Kurdistan; Fakhraddin Moradi, member of the Khabat Organization of Iranian Kurdistan; and Ghazal Mowlān Chaparabad, member of Komala Zahmatkeshan, who was killed on 14 April 2026 in Sordash in the latest recorded drone strike.

Under international humanitarian law, these attacks must be assessed in light of the principles of distinction, proportionality, and precaution. Any strike carried out without precise target verification, strict military necessity, or regard for foreseeable excessive harm may constitute a serious violation of the law governing the conduct of hostilities.

The repeated cross-border use of lethal drones and missiles by the Islamic Republic of Iran raises serious concerns of unlawful force and engages its international responsibility. HANA strongly condemns these attacks and expresses deep concern over their deadly human cost and their destabilizing effect on the region.

HANA calls for independent and impartial investigations, identification of those responsible, and urgent international action to ensure accountability and prevent further attacks.
