A Kurdish citizen was injured in a landmine explosion

Hana: A Kurdish citizen with the identity of “Shirko Mohammadpour” from the village of “Bioran” in the city of Sardasht was seriously injured by a landmine and suffered a leg injury.

This citizen was hit by a landmine while grazing livestock and had this accident.

It is estimated that Iran is one of the most mine-infected countries with about 16 million landmines. Mohammad Hossein Mirahmadi, head of the demining center, said that after the Iran-Iraq war, Iran faced 42,000 square kilometers of mine-contaminated soil in five provinces of Uromiah, Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Ilam and Khuzestan, and that about 700 square kilometers were still contaminated.
Not all Iranian mines are the result of war, Iran continues to lay mines under the pretext of defending its borders and fighting border smuggling.

Another category of mines is not related to the Iran-Iraq war, nor to defend the borders. According to him, the Iranian government had planted these mines "around military bases in the 1980s when it was involved with Kurdish parties. Many of these mines were not cleared after the clashes ended. Floods and heavy rains also moved the mines." Therefore, in some cases, we see mine explosions far away from the border, such as the incident of children in Neshkash village, which is about 45 km away from the border.
