According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, a citizen identified as Ahmad Astarkhi, 40 years old, married and the father of two children, a Kormanj Kurd from North Khorasan Province, was killed during the popular protests in Tehran as a result of direct gunfire by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The body of this Kurdish citizen was buried on January 12, 2026, in his birthplace, the village of Astarkhi.
It should be noted that Mr. Astarkhi had previously been detained for a period by security forces.
