The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the death sentences of five political prisoners were carried out in Qezel Hesar Prison, Karaj. The identities of two of these prisoners have been confirmed by Hana as Amanj Karavanji and Arsalan Sheikhi.
According to Mizan, the official media outlet of Iran’s judiciary, without specifying the exact location of the execution, these prisoners were labeled as ISIS members and accused of involvement in a bombing.
An informed source stated that before the execution, a special unit was deployed inside Qezel Hesar Prison, and all prison halls were locked. Clashes occurred between prisoners and security forces in the halls as prisoners tried to prevent the transfer of those sentenced to the execution site. Ultimately, they were forcibly moved and executed.
The identities of the remaining three political prisoners, who were simultaneously transferred to solitary confinement for execution, are still under investigation.
