Two kolbars were killed and injured after being shot by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baneh

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on the evening of Friday, October 24, 2025, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran opened fire—without prior warning—on a vehicle carrying kolbars in the border area of Sardaw, in Baneh County. As a result of the shooting, one kolbar identified as Ebrahim Piranzad was killed, and another, identified as Shaho (last name unknown), was injured.

Hana has learned that Ebrahim Piranzad, aged 32, married, father of two, and a resident of Bilo village in Baneh County, died instantly after being struck by a live bullet in the heart.

According to Hana’s sources, the body of the slain kolbar was transferred to Salah-e din Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh, but as of the time this report was compiled, his body had not yet been handed over to his family. The injured kolbar was also taken to the same hospital for treatment.

This incident comes amid a significant rise in the number of direct shootings by the Iranian armed forces against kolbars in the border regions of Kurdistan in recent months. In many of these cases, border and security forces open fire without prior warning, and there has been no official accountability from government authorities regarding such incidents.

The Hana Human Rights Organization, while expressing deep concern over the ongoing systematic killings of kolbars, once again calls on international human rights institutions and UN Special Rapporteurs to urgently investigate and address these grave violations of the right to life, and to hold the Iranian government accountable for these unlawful and inhumane actions.
