September 12, 2025 – The G7 Rapid Response Mechanism (G7 RRM) today issued an official statement strongly condemning the Islamic Republic of Iran’s repressive actions and unlawful activities carried out beyond its borders.
According to the statement, Iran’s security and intelligence services have engaged in a disturbing pattern of threats, surveillance, abductions, and even assassinations of political dissidents and journalists abroad — clear violations of international law and the sovereignty of states.
The G7 also raised concern over other malign activities, including threats against journalists’ families, online harassment, the disclosure of personal information, and efforts aimed at fostering social division.
Expressing solidarity with the victims of these actions, the G7 reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen cooperation and coordination in order to counter Iran’s transnational repression, safeguard freedom of expression, and ensure the safety of citizens.
