According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Kianoush Cheraghi, a 45-year-old resident of Dehloran, was arrested by security forces.
According to Hana’s sources, security agents raided Mr. Cheraghi’s house at 11:00 AM without presenting any legal documents, arrested him, and took him to an undisclosed location. Despite efforts by his family, no information has been obtained regarding his whereabouts or condition.
Kianoush Cheraghi was previously released from Darehshahr prison on May 13, 2025, after serving 14 months of his sentence, with the remainder suspended.
He had been arrested on March 24, 2024, after being summoned to the Enforcement Office and transferred to Ilam Prison to serve his sentence. He was later released under electronic surveillance. On January 25, 2025, the Ilam Court of Appeals (Branch 6) revoked his electronic monitoring.
Earlier, in October 2023, Branch 2 of the Ilam Revolutionary Court in Dehloran, presided over by Judge Seyed Reza Salahoddini, sentenced him to one year in prison for “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” In a separate case, on November 6, 2023, he was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court Two of Dehloran, under Judge Hossein Panahi, to two years in prison for “spreading false information to disturb public opinion via cyberspace.” Additionally, he was ordered to handwrite a 200-page summary of the wills and biographies of 10 Iran-Iraq war victims, approved by the Ilam Foundation of Sacred Defense.
Kianoush Cheraghi, a former employee of the Social Security Organization, was initially arrested on October 3, 2023, by security forces in Dehloran. He was later released on bail pending trial.
