Arsalan Yousefi arrested to serve prison sentence for insulting the Leader of

According to a report received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Arsalan Yousefi, a 32-year-old resident of Salamat village in Bukan County, was arrested and transferred to the county’s prison to serve his prison sentence.

Based on available information, Arsalan Yousefi had been summoned on Thursday, January 9, 2025, and was required to report to the Enforcement of Judgments Office on that date.

Mr. Yousefi was sentenced by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Bukan, presided over by Judge Keshvari, to five years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran, insulting the Supreme Leader, and insulting Islamic sanctities.” The sentence was upheld without change by the Court of Appeals and became final.

It is noteworthy that Arsalan Yousefi was previously arrested without a judicial warrant on August 5, 2023, at his private residence in Salamat village and transferred to one of the security detention centers in Orumiyeh. During his detention and interrogation, he was deprived of his basic rights as a defendant, including access to a chosen attorney. Following two months of illegal detention, he was released from Bukan Prison on September 27, 2023, on bail of one billion tomans.
