According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Ali Mashhouri, a married kolbar with a child from the village of Kandah Sorah in Baneh County, was targeted by direct gunfire from military forces near the Barwishkani border post and seriously injured.
According to a source familiar with the incident who spoke to Hana, military forces opened fire on the kolbar without prior warning, seriously injuring both of his legs. He was subsequently transferred to Salah-e Din Ayoubi Hospital in Baneh. No further information is currently available regarding his physical condition or the course of his treatment.
The direct shooting of kolbars in the absence of any threat to the lives of officers or others has become a recurring practice among the Islamic Republic’s border forces in Kurdistan, seriously endangering civilians’ right to life. Numerous reports by Hana indicate that these shootings also disregard the Islamic Republic’s own domestic legal requirements governing the use of firearms, including the obligation to issue prior warnings and comply with the legally prescribed procedures for opening fire.
