Judicial Summons Issued for Shahrzad Rezaei by the Sanandaj Enforcement of Judgments Office

The Fourth Branch of the Sanandaj Enforcement of Judgments Office issued a notice dated October 6, 2026 (14 Mehr 1405), requesting that Shahrzad Rezaei, a civil rights activist from Sanandaj and a former detainee of the Zhina protests and the December 2025 protests, report to the branch. The notice lists several charges, including “assembly and collusion,” “membership in anti-state groups,” and “propaganda against the state.”

Shahrzad Rezaei was first arrested on September 27, 2022 (5 Mehr 1401). She was arrested again on January 10, 2026 (20 Dey 1404) by Intelligence Ministry forces and released on bail approximately one month later. She has reported being subjected to torture during detention, being denied access to a lawyer and contact with her family, and facing continued security threats following her release.

According to Rezaei, after her release, security forces visited her family’s home in an attempt to arrest her two 16-year-old children. The continuation of these pressures ultimately led her and her family to leave Iran.

The issuance of this new notice, while the civil rights activist is residing outside the country, indicates the continuation of judicial proceedings against her. The extension of security measures to the children and family members of a person facing political charges also raises serious questions regarding compliance with the principle of individual criminal responsibility and the prohibition of exerting pressure on relatives.
