Statement by the Hana Human Rights Organizationon the Occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day

On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Hana Human Rights Organization, while honoring the memory of the millions of victims of one of the most heinous crimes in human history, emphasizes that remembering this tragedy is not merely a reflection on the past, but a serious warning for the present and the future. The experience of the Holocaust clearly demonstrated how the normalization of discrimination, systematic repression, and impunity for perpetrators of human rights violations can pave the way for the commission of widespread crimes against humanity.

Today, as the people of Iran face extensive and structural human rights violations, including increasing executions, the killing of protesters, and the exercise of organized state violence, the international community stands at a historic crossroads. The memory of the Holocaust warns us that silence, inaction, and indifference in the face of such trends can lead to the repetition of catastrophes for which the world has already paid a heavy price. The Hana Human Rights Organization stresses that the international community must not remain silent in the face of oppression inflicted on the people of Iran and is obligated to use all available legal and moral capacities to prevent the escalation of violations and to avert the occurrence of irreversible crimes.
