On Monday, January 2, 2023, Soheil Arabi, a former political prisoner, was arrested by the security forces at his home in Tehran and taken to an unknown location.
A source close to this citizen's family said:
"Mr. Arabi was detained by the security forces in his private home on Monday morning and taken to an unknown place. Not knowing about the status and location increases the family's worries."
This source has mentioned that Soheil Arabi is suffering from several diseases and is still denied access to medicine.
There is still no information about the whereabouts, and accusations against this citizen.
Farangis Mazloum, the mother of Soheil Arabi, is also imprisoned in Evin prison, and she spends her imprisonment despite her illness.
Soheil Arabi was detained since November 7, 2013 and was in prison without the right to leave. On January 1, 2020 he was transferred from Evin prison to Tehran prison.
In his first case, this political prisoner was sentenced to five years in prison for "insulting religious sanctities", "propaganda activity against the regime" and "insulting the leadership", and for his other case, in accusation of "publishing lies with the intention of disturbing the public mind and propaganda against the system" was sentenced to two years of imprisonment, two years exile to Borazjan city and four million tomans fine and in accusation of "destruction of governmental property" he was sentenced to imprisonment for one year and eight months.
At the same time, Soheil Arabi was serving his sentence of seven years and six months in Tehran prison after a lot of changes in the proceedings and sentences issued, he was again convicted by the Revolutionary Court due to two new cases opened against him in prison and was sentenced to exile and fine.
Soheil Arabi was deported from Tehran prison to Rajaei-Shahr prison in Karaj as a punishment on September 19, 2019. On October 20, 2020, after 33 days of being held in solitary confinement, he announced his transfer to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Intelligence Detention Center known as Ward Two-Alef of Evin prison during a phone call with his family. But finally, on Sunday, November 8, 2020, by the end of the interrogations, he was transferred from the ward of this security institution to one of the solitary confinement of the Rajaei-Shahr prison in Karaj (known as the Suite). After 9 days, Soheil Arabi was sent to the general ward of this detention centre.
Earlier, on December 23, 2020, the 8th investigation branch of the Shahr-e-Ray Prosecutor's Office explained the charges of Soheil Arabi on his other cases through video conference, and finally this branch issued a verdict for staying the proceedings.
Finally, on November 16, 2021, after his release from Rajaei-Shahr prison in Karaj, he was sent to Borazjan along with the officer to determine the assignment of his exile sentence.
This political prisoner has been continuously informing about political prisoners and anonymous prisoners on social networks since the moment of his release.
Soheil Arabi was summoned to execute the sentence of a new case.
Soheil Arabi, a political prisoner, while spending his exile in Borazjan, was summoned to the prosecutor's office to endure imprisonment in a case that was opened for him before his release.
Soheil Arabi, a prisoner who was released from prison on "November 16, 2021" and then he was serving his 2-year exile in Borazjan, was again summoned to the 1st branch of the Public Prosecutor's Office and Revolution court of the 33rd area.
It should be noted that he was previously sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, payment of a fine, prohibition to leave the country and the requirement to seasonally attend the office of monitoring and follow-up officers by branch 26 of the Tehran Revolution Court headed by Judge Iman Afshari.
This case was opened against Soheil Arabi and Mehdi Meskin Nawaz before Soheil's freedom, while he was serving his sentence in prison.
Soheil Arabi posted a photo of the notice on his Facebook account and wrote:
"I'm going back home, to my companions in prison, to breathe happily next to the closed petitioners… The world outside the prison was an uglier world than inside the prison, the torturers outside were more cruel, they didn't even let me see my daughter. This doesn't work for me…"
