Human Rights Situation Statistics for November 2024 in Iranian Kurdistan

Hana Human Rights Organization Statistics Center has prepared and is reporting a statistical report on the human rights situation and violations of the fundamental rights of Kurdish citizens in November 2024 in Iranian Kurdistan. It should be noted that due to the lack of free access to news inside the country, due to severe repression and censorship, this data may not cover all cases of human rights violations of citizens. However, every effort has been made by the colleagues of Hana at the Statistics Center to ensure that the reported and registered cases are accurate and verified.

According to the data recorded at the Hana Human Rights Organization Statistics Center, in November 2024:
 • At least 19 Kurdish citizens were executed.
 • At least 33 Kurdish citizens were arrested.
 • 12 prisoners were sentenced to 395 months in prison.
 • 5 prisoners were sentenced to death.
 • 5 kolbars were killed or injured.
 • At least 12 individuals committed suicide.

Arrests:
In November 2024, at least 33 Kurdish citizens were arbitrarily arrested by the security agencies of the Islamic Republic of Iran without any arrest warrants issued by the court. The identities of these 33 individuals have been verified by the Hana Human Rights Organization, and most of them were arrested on charges of political activities, collaborating with Kurdish opposition parties, and civil activism. According to these statistics, 29 of the detainees are men, and 4 are women.

Executions:
In November 2024, at least 19 Kurdish citizens were executed in Iranian prisons. Of these, 11 were executed on charges related to drug crimes, and 8 were executed for premeditated murder. The execution machine of the Islamic Republic intensified, with the number of executions in November increasing by 70% compared to October.

Prison Sentences:
In November 2024, 12 individuals were sentenced to a total of 395 months in prison. In the same month, 5 prisoners were sentenced to death. Vorishe Moradi and Mehrab Abdollazadeh were sentenced to death on political charges, and Nasser Bekrzadeh, Azad Shojaei, and Idris Ali were sentenced to death for espionage for Israel.

Kolbars:
According to Hana’s statistics, in November 2024, at least 5 kolbars and traders were killed or injured. Of these, 1 person was killed due to natural events, 1 was injured by a landmine explosion, and 3 were injured by direct gunfire from border guards.

Suicides:
In November 2024, at least 12 individuals committed suicide in cities and villages of Kurdistan. One of them was a child under 18 years old. According to Hana’s statistics, 5 of those who committed suicide were women, and 7 were men. These suicides were mostly due to family problems, poverty, and in some cases, unknown reasons.

Landmine Explosion:
In November 2024, one person was killed, and one person was injured due to a landmine explosion.

Conclusion:
In this month, executions continued, with the number rising by 70% compared to the previous month. Arbitrary arrests, unjust prison sentences, inhumane death sentences, the killing and injuring of kolbars and traders by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, and the high rate of suicides, especially among young people and children, highlight the severe problems faced by the people in the cities and villages of Kurdistan. The Islamic Republic, with its discriminatory policies towards Kurds, the lack of economic development in the Kurdish regions, and the absence of investment, has created conditions where a portion of the population resorts to kolbari (a dangerous occupation). This results in the daily killing of kolbars.
