According to a field report cited by HANA from Zoomit, while the Islamic Republic has cut off internet access following the mass killing of protesters in order to prevent documentation of the crimes committed, traders are forced to physically visit the Tehran Chamber of Commerce to access the global internet. They are only allowed a few limited hours of access after accepting security conditions and in the presence of an officer affiliated with security institutions.
Based on this report, users are required to register their personal identification details and the IP address of their device, and to sign a written pledge in which internet use is conditioned on specific terms and potential consequences, including monitoring or professional restrictions.
The Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that even this limited access is selective, largely reserved for individuals affiliated with the government, and is carried out under strict security measures.
