Hana Human Rights Organization Expresses Concern Over the Unidentified Bodies of 50 Women Protesters Massacred by Government Forces

The Hana Human Rights Organization, relying on reports received from independent sources—including a report published by the Student Scientific Association of Sociology at Tarbiat Modares University—expresses deep concern regarding the storage of the bodies of 50 female protesters from Tehran as “unidentified” at the Kahrizak Center. According to these sources, the bodies are believed to belong to women who lost their lives during the protests. However, their identities have not been officially confirmed, and the process of returning the bodies to their families has not been carried out.

The continued status of these victims as “unidentified” raises serious concerns about transparency in reporting the number of casualties and the handling of these cases. Under human rights obligations, governments are required to protect life and, in the event of suspicious deaths, investigate them promptly and impartially. Families have the right to know what happened to their loved ones, and the identities of the deceased must be officially established. Any unjustified delay in returning the bodies or providing information violates the principles of human dignity, transparency, and accountability.

Hana Human Rights Organization calls on the relevant authorities to:
• Launch immediate, independent, and transparent investigations into the identities of these individuals and the circumstances of their deaths.
• Ensure the prompt identification and delivery of the bodies to families without delay.
• Publicly release the findings of investigations and guarantee effective accountability.
• Refrain from any actions or policies that conceal information or deprive families of their right to know the truth.
