Based on reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, a worker identified as Yadollah Qaderian, a father of one and a resident of Qorveh, lost his life after falling into an oil-refining tank approximately five meters deep while working at an oil-refining factory located in the Avanegan Industrial Zone. The incident occurred due to the lack of proper equipment and the absence of essential workplace safety measures.
It should be noted that in recent years, because of inadequate workplace safety and employers’ neglect of basic protection standards, the number of workplace accidents in Kurdistan and other parts of Iran has been steadily increasing.
According to international human rights and labor standards, governments are obligated to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all workers.
